Madoka is the kind of guy that doesn't think of other's people's feelings if they have no meaning to him. He will use and manipulate people to get what he wants if he has to, and will take even more advantage of those that develop any kind of affection towards him [be it friendship or a crush], which most of the time ends up being one-sided. He will lie if he must.
However, he has no interest in gossip and rumors. Unless there is any gain in them for himself, he tends to ignore what happens around him.

He never really "gives his best", which makes him come off as someone lazy. This is mainly, however, due to a strong fear of failure, and he'd much rather settle with low scores before working hard to find out he didn't have what it takes.
Swimming comes naturally to him, however, and he does have an innate talent-- He still hasn't found the motivation to try his best, however.

Feigns indifference most of the time, though deep down he may actually care-- Eg. If he loses a race, he'll pretend not to mind too much.
Along with this feature comes the fact that he is pretty laid back. If you present him with a problem, he'll keep his head cool.

Though he hasn't really taken the time to develop significant bonds with other people [mainly because sooner or later they figure out his true intentions], if he does happen to get attached to someone, he can grow to be both caring and loyal. Although he will keep putting himself first, he will actually consider the other person as an equal of some sort, and try to make them pleased too.
